Writing and reading need to make a comeback. The last time I actually read a book is really sad. I know I’m mainly lazy and have a billion excuses that people eat up. Still, reading just doesn’t grab me. It never really did. I was always into movies, music, and fashion. I truly love movies. I know I’m not alone in this. I could never settle to live in the past. I accept my present and take this opportunity to experience life, even though sometimes it’s extremely hard to keep your head up. I consider myself a normal guy. I have to work and hustle to reach my goals every day, and reading is a great way to escape while you learn without the fatigue.
When I saw The New York Times release the 100 best books of the century, it hit me. I was shocked at how many words I had skipped over, how many great teachers I wasn’t learning from, and here I am trying to write and capture a “moment”. (As I publish this I still haven’t picked up a book, but that is why Im really liking Substack, for its reading.)

I sent the link to my friend group and told them we should choose a book and start a reading activity to discuss. A mini book club between friends is always a good idea no? They both said yes, but we never actually did it. No surprise.
Life today is hard, with so many goodies amazing distractions, apps, and companies rolling out product after product. I mean I can order a delicious burger and put on my favourite anime, while I take a toke form a THC pen, any day I want. It is truly feeling in heaven (for some). Fashion, although going through a period, is still fashion, and if you know where to find the cool kids, it’s amazing. Music is having a sublime moment as well. Artists, creators, inventors, and tech nerds are all just amazing. Content is better then ever, and living life includes consuming on all screens.
GTR take (Good, Tasteful, & Real)
Whats good:
Substack. I know I know, but its my first post and I want to make a point with the substack gods and pay tribute
Tasteful:
Confidence.
Today, everyone is looking for the best spot, food, shirt, shoe, hotel, etc. I know I am at least manifesting that. Still, we need to manifest mindfulness and confidence.
Confidence is such a dope outfit. I’m not saying I have it on all the time, but I at least aspire and try to. Sometimes it’s good to be humble and step back, but with confidence, it’s magic. It lets people understand that you are connected to you, not to the rest of the world. Confidence is intelligence.
Real:
Playing on the confidence path.
I was speaking with a high end corporate director woman, and I found what she said amazing.
“When big CEOs address their teams, the best ones speak slowly, firmly, and take their sweet time to respond. You might even think they are having a brain fart, or having a slow day, as they pause, it’s their confidence that allows them to process and answer the right way taking the right amount of time.”
A C.E.O can answer and influence a whole part of the world if the company is big enough. No rush on the answer, if its the right one”
Be confident, it’s all you need out there.
